Comments and Analysis

This firm failed to respond to complaints presented by the Bureau. Callers indicate the company claims consumers won large cash prizes, and asks for fees in excess of $1000 for shipping and taxes. One caller stated the company insisted that fees must be put in escrow before the firm can process the prizes. We urge extreme caution in dealing with any company that insists on payment before issuing a prize. By law, prizes should be available to winners without requiring them to make purchases or pay fees. Any taxes due on a prize are paid directly to the IRS; not to companies awarding prizes. Ask the company to verify your prize, and its request for fees, in writing. Our experience with companies of this type is that the prizes are no where near what they are reprpresented to be; that it is very difficult to obtain refunds; and that credit cards are often charged without authorization.
