Damaged my car

When I took my car in for an antenna Telfair there was a new manager , and he was not professional at all. I also ask if he would fix my truck button. The price e double for the antenna in 10 months. When I came to pick up my car it was damaged. My car is well taken car of. The roof window was loose, leather was ripped, gear panel was bent up and the antenna does not to down for 2 mins after button and car is off. He replace the truck button, but said he had to replace chrome. He replace it with a piece of tin and kept the chrome. The tin is lifted up and I am too afraid of Doug and his Manager to even call there to ask for it . I was crying, because I was devastated, Doug yelled in my face and said , that does not impress me and I explained, my tears was from hurt. I pass a mechanic and he I spoke and he said hos are you and I said not too good, he said good. My God, I have paid over 5,000 for repairs and now it is in the Jaguar Dealership. K pray that someone will do the right thing in higher management. Doug talked about immigration and his feelings which were inappropriate, to anyone e ,but we people of color and my husband is a Methodist Minister and we had just been there 10 months ago and treated with respect . I am so hurt.

Comments and Analysis

California law affords you certain rights when you have repairs made to your automobile. Repair shops are required to display a sign informing you of these rights. They include, for example, the right to a written repair estimate, to a detailed invoice of labor and parts, and to the return of any parts replaced, provided you request the return at the time you order the work and provided that your warranty does not require that the be returned to the manufacturer.

A repair service may not perform repairs beyond those listed in the estimate without your authorization. However, if they have to tear down a component to give you an estimate, you may have to pay for the labor to tear it down and reassemble it. You will know beforehand, though, what the charge for that will be. You should never sign a blank work order, and a reputable dealer will not ask you to.

For businesses outside of California, please check with the agency that regulates this industry.
