Comments and Analysis

This company markets lists of names and addresses through a chain letter which makes unrealistic earnings claims. Typical chain letters promise you riches if you send money to a number of persons along with a copy of the letter. In truth, the only people that benefit are those that offer the promotion. Only 13 mailings to 6 people exceeds the entire population of the world. New twists are: selling a mailing list so you can keep the chain going, adding a company name at the bottom of the list, instead of a person; and selling products such as how to information, while recruiting other investors. According to the U S Postal Service, chain letters that involve the mailing of money or other items of value, violate U S Mail Fraud Statutes. Beware of chain letters which state they do not violate the law. If you think you may have received an illegal chain letter, turn it over to your local Postal Inspector. Whether or not a letter requires an investment, don't be afraid to break the chain because of implied threats--simply throw it away.
