I took my boat to John to get a small hydraulic problem fixed and was told that my boat was essentially scrap because of winterization issues. John said that my engine was "froze" and to dive into the testing and findings of the issues and essentially fixing it would be a cost larger than the boat. He painted a picture of complete doom for the boat. I kept in touch with him for a couple weeks and ended up bringing my boat back to him to look at once more where he offered me $300 for it. I refreshed and sold it on Facebook market for 600 the next day completely trusting the certified mechanic shops opinion. Few days later the great gentlemen I sold it to called me to be "upfront and honest". He went and talked to City Marine and John told him he had people in line to buy my engine that he didn't think anything would be wrong with it and could sell it in a minute for $1200, my trailer for 500 and part out the boat for much more. John told me my engine costs would be north of $2000 dollars to fix yet he bragged to my buyer a week later how he never sees these engines crack and he had buyers lined up for it. I admitted to John when bringing the boat we are new to boating and learning more about engines and he completely tried to scam me by blatantly lying over and over. The picture he painted to me was the boat was worthless. The picture he painted to my buyer was you got a steal. Little did he know my buyer is a good honest man who called me the next morning. I'm completely moved on. I just do not want honest new to boating customers bringing their boats here. My loss is hopefully future customers saving graces
