Rather than making an immediate decision, insist that the telemarketer put the offer in writing for your consideration. Obtain written confirmation of ALL verbal promises and any unclear issues. Verify that the company is licensed to sell real estate in your state. Insist upon verifiable evidence that promised services will be performed: how will your timeshare be advertised, and what steps are taken to find buyers. Pay special attention to whether the contract specifies that the firm will resell your timeshare or merely advertise it. Many firms who advertise timeshares do not actually sell them.
