I was charged $914, for a 17 mile ride to the local Hospital.

I was charged $914, for a 17 mile ride to the local Hospital. The ambulance broke down at my residence, and had to wait, then had to meet another ambulance to transfer on to, to get to hospital. They said if i had no insurance, they could discount it to $496.27. Almost $500 bucks for a ride. This is why American Health care sucks. You cant afford to get to the hospital let alone the hospital bill! Close down its business if it can not make an ambulance ride affordable. $75.00 at the most.
