Students affected by the closure of the school and who received a federal loan can apply to have their loan discharged. It is important that students keep in mind that if they want their student loan discharged, they will have to agree to forgo any credits they earned at the schools. Students should contact their loan servicer for details about the application process to get the loan discharged. To find who services your federal loan, login to the “My Federal Student Aid” website or call 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243). Only federal loans are eligible for the closed school loan discharge mentioned here. Options for private student loans should be discussed with the private loan lender.
