We rate this company as having an unsatisfactory business performance record. Complainants generally allege delays in completing work, shoddy workmanship, job abandonment, and failure to perform repairs in accordance with warranties. Some complainants allege the company collected deposits to build pools, but never returned to do the work. All complaints remain unanswered. On August 24, 2001, the State Contractors License Board and the District Attorney announced that this company, and it's principal,Curtis Malin were found guilty of three seperate felony counts of diversion of construction funds. The verdict was a result of an earlier complaint filing when consumers had complained to authorities of job abandonment, poor workmanship, failure to pay sub-contractors, and misuse or failure to account for funds collected in advance of performing work. This practice is refered to as frontloading. Mr. Malin was required to surrender his contractor's license, serve one year in County jail, and be monitored for a period of five years through probation. A restitution hearing is scheduled for October 25, 2001. In California, any job that costs $500 or more for material and labor must be performed by a contractor who holds a current, valid license from the Contractors State License Board in the specialty for which he or she is contracting.
