On August 25, 2009, the California Board of Accountancy ("Board") filed a Default Decision and Order against Elana Mae Mitchell, CPA, Inc. ("Mitchell") for violations of Business and Professions Codes. The Board charges Mitchell and her firm with engaging in the practice of public accountancy without valid permits. In addition, Mitchell was cited for failing to respond to the Board's inquiries. The Boar's Citations required payment of fines. Mitchell and her firm submitted renewal applications that could not be processed without resolving the outstanding fines. Michell submitted the renewal application and check to pay the outstanding fines. The check was returned for insufficient funds. The administrative finess assessed remain outstanding.
The Board Ordered that the Certified Public Accountant Certificate and the Certified Public Accountancy Corporation Certificate issued to Mitchell and her firm revoked. This Decision became effective on January 29, 2010.
