Walked out on the job and left a mess

I hired him as the first contractor on my first house and boy was I naive. Got to know and trust him so I didn't think twice when he asked for all the remaining payment upfront at one point. Of course I never saw him again. Gigantic pile of debris and broken glass left in my yard from the demo. Had to get parts of the bathroom redone almost immediately because he didn't do basic things like sealing the toilet. Cost me thousands to repair what he left behind. My first ever experience with a contractor and I felt so betrayed and burned.
