Comments and Analysis

This company solicits magazine subscriptions via an independent marketing company. In some cases telematketing agents are said to call prospective customers on the pretext of entering them in a drawing or contest. Consumers should be aware that you should never have to purchase something in order to be eligible for a contest or to to win a prize. ~~Here is how it typically works. You may receive a call from a telemarketer offering you various magazine subscriptions. They make the offers sound really great giving you many choices of magazines and subscriptions. They also explain the plans at length. They are also nice enough to give you deals discounts and sometimes free subscriptions. What they don't tell you is that your verbal agreement by phone locks you into a 3 to 4 year subscription contract that is said to be non-cancelable and will cost you $39.99 per month. ~~In other cases the marketer may never let you know the total cost and tell you that it costs only """"a few dollars."""" Some also record the calls to have your verbal agreement to buy the magazine subscription. In some states a verbal agreement is as good as a written contract to purchase. Be careful of what you say over the phone. If you are not interested in the offer end the call as quickly as possible by plainly stating that you do not want the service. Also never give your billing address bank account or credit card numbers over the phone to unfamiliar companies selling anything.~~
