Should you receive similar invoices, write the company to insist upon proof of the order or release from all liability. Federal law requires any solicitation in the guise of invoice to warn recipients that it is not a bill, but a solicitation and that there is no obligation to pay. This warning must be in 30-point type and print. Solicitations which do not meet these requirements should be reported to the Postal Authorities. Your report could help initiate the issuance of a Stop Order by postal authorities. When a Stop Order is issued, mail is returned to sender, thus the soliciting company's money supply is cut resulting in closure of the business in most cases.
