The company advertises in the help wanted section of newspapers offering employment in various areas. The company is not actually hiring anyone. Instead they are charging callers $50.00 for a list of businesses. Accordingly, we consider the advertising to be misleading and deceptive. This company is owned and operated by Norman Jones. In December 1992, Jones was sentenced to a one year jail term on criminal charges stemming from three ads placed in the Riverside Press Enterprise in June and July 1992. The ads suggested access to jobs or immediate hiring, but were really inducements to get people to buy a list of businesses for $50. Often listed firms were not hiring. Jones served 21 days of his prison term before being released. As condition of his release, Jones agreed he would violate no laws including the ban on false advertising.Allegedly, Jones continued to offer job lists from various locations in Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties. We have Jobfinders dba Job Service, appears to be using a San Bernardino address. John Fisher informed the BBB that Jobfinders has been under new ownership since April 1, 1996. We cannot confirm that Fisher is the owner, but the company continues to charge $50 for lists of jobs.
We know of no other matter or practice relating to this company that may assist you in your consideration of this company.
