Description:

On June 19, 2014 the Federal Trade Commission ("FTC") reached a Decision And Order with Level 3 Communications, LLC ("Level 3") over allegations they violated the FTC Act by falsely claiming to participate in the international privacy frameworks known as the U.S.-EU Safe Harbor and the U.S.-Swiss Safe Harbor.

Under the Settlement, Level 3 is prohibited from misrepresenting the extent to which they participate in any privacy or data security program sponsored by the government or any other self-regulatory or standard-setting organization. This Order will terminate on June 19, 2034 or twenty years from the most recent date that the United States or the FTC files a complaint in federal court alleging any violation of the Order.
