The mechanic that told me I needed a timing chain that was going to cost some over $1,000

The mechanic that told me I needed a timing chain that was going to cost some over $1,000. His name is Tim. Not when I made the complaint I have to talk to whoever owned m&a. As far as him not Tim. what it was Tim told me I needed this high dollar timing chain. I needed it very soon or my engine was going to blow up. Come to find out I do today coil packs that goes with a spark plugs. I just needed one after tax it was about $75 for O'Reilly's. I waited about a month before I contacted Tim's boss the owner of the company. When I told him he arguing me said he had one of the highest devices to text car problems there weren't El Dorado there were only 3 counting his in El Dorado. First of all Tim went to his toolbox his own personal two box he always does he got his handheld device. I know this but Kim's been working on my stuff for quite a long time now. It never cost me that much for him to work on my stuff when he weren't there. But I do notice since he's been to M&A. Every time I had him do some work it's always cost quite a bit more quite a few more hundred dollars. but anyway Tim's boss got to telling me about this high dollar machine and Tim said it needed a timing chain it was going to need a timing chain. I told him Tim said I needed it really soon I can the next few days. And that all I really needed was this $75 part. But he stands behind his mechanic. Even though it's been over a month now my car runs fine no problems whatsoever.

Comments and Analysis

California law affords you certain rights when you have repairs made to your automobile. Repair shops are required to display a sign informing you of these rights. They include, for example, the right to a written repair estimate, to a detailed invoice of labor and parts, and to the return of any parts replaced, provided you request the return at the time you order the work and provided that your warranty does not require that the be returned to the manufacturer.

A repair service may not perform repairs beyond those listed in the estimate without your authorization. However, if they have to tear down a component to give you an estimate, you may have to pay for the labor to tear it down and reassemble it. You will know beforehand, though, what the charge for that will be. You should never sign a blank work order, and a reputable dealer will not ask you to.

For businesses outside of California, please check with the agency that regulates this industry.
