Licensing
California law requires that companies advertising or offering to improve your credit record, history, or rating must be registered with the Attorney General's Office as a Credit Services Organization and post a $100,000 bond. To verify registration and bonding, contact the Office of the Attorney General by writing to; DOJ. Attn. Public Inquiry Unit, P.O. Box 944255, Sacramento, CA. 94244, by calling (916) 322-3360, faxing (916) 323-5341, or visit their website at www.oag.ca.gov.For businesses outside of California, please check with the agency that regulates this industry.

NFN refers debt consolidation applicants to a bill paying service. The complaint history for that firm shows complaints alleging misleading sales practices, dissatisfaction with services, and problems upon contract cancellation. Fees for the service range from 18 to 21% of the total debt. NFN loan applicants are referred to other companies which also charge additional fees. We could find no record of licensing which would allow these firms to engage in lending services. NFN is not registered with the California Attorney General, nor has it posted the required $100,000 bond. Even if registered, it would be unlawful to collect fees before providing promised services. If interested in venture capital, we advise that such money may not be as readily available as is often claimed. Venture capitalists require a well developed business plan, and must be sold on your ideas, before they will risk their money. Usually they invest in your business for a percentage of the profits over a specified period of time. In February 1996, Bureau mail sent to Antelope Road in Menifee CA was returned by the Post Office stamped "no longer at this address".
