We are Canadian citizens. We authorized the purchase of a vacation package from AAA Arizona Travel. Included with the package was a Travel Protection Plus insurance policy valued at USD $249.98. In addition, the AAA Arizona Travel Agent charged a $500 deposit to our VISA Card. Total: $749.50. We questioned the Travel Agent regarding the cancellation insurance. The Travel Agent assured us that: ["You have a travel protection plan where you can cancel for ANY reason and get future travel credits. If you cancel you will lose the $249.98 and $500 will be kept as a future credit." The travel insurance document advised that the plan is only available to US and Puerto Rico residents. We are NOT U.S. residents. Therefore, the USD $249.98 could NOT have been correctly applied for the purchase of the Insurance policy. The Agent's offer to withhold the USD $249.98 portion of our deposit was NOT valid. Similarly, withholding the $500 balance of the deposit for future credit was also NOT valid since the entire transaction and our agreement to place the deposit was based on the supposition that Travel Insurance would be a component of the vacation package. Please help. Resolution Sought Refund of $749.50.
