5-1-23, i took my car to Adrian's Paint & Body Shop. We agreed on a price for a paint job. He accepted the car & i agreed to the amount ($3500) we came up with. 5-4-23, he asked me to put half the money on a down payment for my bill, which i did. i gave him $1800. i told him, i know I'm behind all of the cars he had before mines. & that's fine. But i expected him to at least start on the car by August or September. & i didn't start bugging him about when the car was going to be finished until October 1. So that day, i called & i asked, when is the car supposedly going to be painted, ready for me to pick up? He said he would be finished by the end of Oct. or the beginning of Nov. (i said, fine) The day comes & goes & no ready car. i asked him, will the car be ready by Dec.1, he said it would be. That day comes & goes & still no car painted. i asked him would the car be ready after the holidays & will it be ready by the 12th of Jan. cause i wanted it foe my birthday on the 13th. Dates came & went again no painted car. So, Tues., 1-30-24, i go by the shop & he says its going to be ready by Friday (2-2-24). Friday get here & i don't hear from him all day. So i called around 3 or 4. He didn't answer the phone. i called the secretary at his shop's office. She tells me, Adrian didn't answer the phone because he's in the booth painting my car right this very moment. i drive up to Tyler from Gladewater to get there & see him not painting my car. Hadn't even put a base coat on the car Resolution Sought My desired outcome would be the owner (Adrian) to give me the $1800 i gave him in the beginning to start the job & for paint. He said the day i picked the car up, that he didn't have to give me none of my money back because of all of the body work he supposedly did.

Company Response

2/14/2024

Company states; In response to the case of Mr. Edrick Murphy and his desired settlement of $1,800 back, Adrian's Paint and Body put a lot of work on Mr. Murphy's vehicle. When he decided to get it out of the shop on February 2nd, 2024, the car already had several labor hours listed below: 1. Vinyl top removed 3 hours @ $75 per hour $225 2. Repair rust around all windows 10 hours @ $75 per hour $750 3. Repair dents all over the car 10 hours @ $75 per hour $750 4. Mechanic labor: Transmission Diagnosis 1.5 hours @ $90 per h. $135 A total of at least $1,860 dollars in labor have been invested into this vehicle so the technicians had already been paid for the job they did. Mr. Murphy is ignoring the fact that every single step of the process counts and every single step of the process have a cost. Adrian's Paint and Body has never been closed to negotiations but Mr. Murphy showed up and started to escalate the situation and being aggressive to the point that 9-1-1 (police) had to be called before things got out of hand. Working with our customers and serving them in the best possible way is in our best interest and for the same reason, certain amount of labor hour were put into his vehicle and the shop needs to charge for it. Hoping this email gives you a clear point of view of our business, we will be more than glad to provide you with any other piece of information you may require. Sincerely, Adrian's Paint and Body
