Bought expensive set of All Clad stainless steel pans on or about February 5, 2024. Set was 3 pans and 2 lids. (I'm embarrassed I payed this much now.) Used one of the pans for a few days. Seems to have lost its finish in a few spots. Contacted All Clad and they said it's my fault for adding salt to the water before it was boiling. I have the emails back and forth, I can forward them. At over $100.00 per pan, it's ridiculous that you would have to treat them so delicately. I've been cooking for 45 years and never had salt in a pan ruin the finish. Resolution Sought I would like to return the whole set for a full refund. Their policy for returns is horribly one sided in their favor. Had they replaced the pan,I would have left it alone, but I'm unhappy with the quality. They are not at all durable. The one I have used also has a ding in it that I have no idea how it got there. I've had far less expensive pans with far greater durability.

Company Response

3/12/2024

Company states: We regretted learning that the consumer experienced any issue while in use of her All-Clad cookware and they were disappointed in the results of their warranty claim evaluation. All Clad warrants the cookware to be free of defects in materials, construction, and workmanship. The warranty does not cover failures or damages as a result of improper use and care. Salt can react with any brand of stainless steel cookware, particularly when it is added to water at the start of the cooking process rather than when the water is boiling. This is a form of corrosion and occurs due to the interaction of the chloride in salt, oxygen in water, and chromium in stainless steel. To avoid small white dots or pits from forming in your pan, bring liquids to a boil or wait until food starts to cook before adding salt. Pitting does not interfere with cooking performance, but can diminish the beauty of your pan's interior. If the consumer disagrees with the results of the warranty evaluation done via the pictures she sent, even though we cannot guarantee a different result, we can have the pan brought in for a physical warranty evaluation. If you have any additional questions, please call 1-800-255-2523 and provide the consumer service agent with reference number 05443386. Representatives are available from Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm EST.

There was no warning or disclaimer of this in the packaging. And it's ridiculous that you can't put actual food in a pan without ill effects. I've had numerous stainless steel pans in the past and never had anything like this happen.
