I had service with Allen's a couple years ago. I moved and was charged my last months bill for not reporting my move. My balance is $400 something. I presently started dating someone who also use their services, has had been using their services for a while now. When they found out that I was spending time at this person's residence, they continuously disconnected his service until I would set up a payment plan. And If I failed to meet their required payment plan, they would shut off his services. Although he was fully paid up. Resolution Sought I would like for them to deal with me concerning my account. It is extremely unfair and unethical to dictate my account because of our relationship or involvement. I have agreed to pay off my balance in a timely manner but I am not in control of illnesses that happen or unforseen circumstances that would lead me to not make the payment. But it still doesn't give them the right to interfere with his service.

Company Response

Company states; Ms. Jackson currently owes Allens for cable TV service from her previous location. Ms. Jackson had arranged with Allens office to pay $50 per month on the outstanding balance, but failed to complete her obligation payments and they still remain outstanding. Fortunately, for Ms. Jackson, when she moved from the location she had cable services, to her current location, the person she is currently with had Allens services already so she did not need her services transferred. Unfortunately, Ms. Jackson's balance remained, even though she did not have a service connection in her name at the new location. Normally, when customers terminate service leaving outstanding balances the office tries to contact them to arrange for collection and if unable to do so, will turn over the balance to the credit bureau for collection. Ms. Jackson's balance was not turned over to collections since we became aware of her location and arrangements were made. However, upon making attempts to collect, Ms. Jackson was even warned that her current location may be in jeopardy of being disconnected because of the balance. I can assume Ms. Jackson has simply deducted, that she no longer was obligated to pay her previous balance. Customers are given ample notice if their bill becomes past due before service is disconnected. Payments for monthly services are due "In Advance". Services are disconnected for non-pay and outstanding balance. As long as her friend's bill remains current, the service is not in jeopardy of disconnection; however, now that we know a person with an outstanding balance is living at that location, if his service is disconnected for non-pay or otherwise, we will not reconnect the location until all outstanding balances at that location are full paid. Failure to pay for communications services is a Federal & State offense. If Ms. Jackson's outstanding balance remains, her balance will be referred to the Credit Bureau for collection. Ms. Jackson was given the opportunity to pay her balance, and she agreed to the arrangements that were made; but she failed to adhere to her obligations and am now putting her friend's services in jeopardy, and has simply been notified of such. Sincerely, President - Allen's TV Cable Service Inc
