American Long Distance Moving and Storage complaints

Made arrangements to move my daughter from Illinois to Texas, after her boyfriend died. Quoted price of $1658.95 on June 2, and they took $588.84 from my bank as the down payment. On July 25, they called, needing an additional $500, because "no one wanted to work." I angrily agreed, because they wouldn't give me a refund. No one ever came to pick up her things, and they later refused to answer our calls. My grandson had to rent a truck and move everything to his garage, since she had to be out of the apt. on July 31, as it was already rented to someone else. We flew home, with only her duffle bag. All her things are still in Illinois. We were scammed! Fortunately for us, the bank refunded my money. Resolution Sought Close down!

I contracted with American Long Distance Moving and Storage to move my household goods from Meridian, ID to Olive Branch, MS. I was unaware this company was a broker company and did not own their own trucks, They contracted wit other companies to move your goods. When I discovered this I was told my $2576.00 deposit was not refundable. I was given a date of 5/20/21 to pick up my household goods. The company kept delaying the date saying that the date I was given was only an estimate. I had to get out of my house as it was sold & the new owners wanted to move in. The new owners allowed me to put my goods in their garage. The company they contracted with showed up on 6/7/21 @ 8 pm, I was never told they were coming. I had already left Idaho & was in Mississippi. I called My grandson & his wife and they went to the house to supervise the loading of my goods. The contracted company showed up in a beat up Ryder truck with no company logo. My granddaughter signed the Bill of Lading ( did not get a copy) The contracted company contacted be 2 days later & informed me that my load was larger than the original estimate from American so I had to pay $13,195.00 instead of the $5,4004.41 balance quoted by American. This company (J&D Movers) did not even take all my furniture I had listed with American Moving. American Moving woefully underestimated the size of my move. Not my fault, I have not received my goods to date (7.23/21) even though I have paid the ransom money for my goods Resolution Sought I want a refund of my deposit, they breached their contract by delaying my move date. The company contracted did not contact me on pick up date & time and still have not delivered my goods to date (7/23/21). American Moving says they are not responsible once the goods are picked up. I want this company & J&D movers put out of business for un-Scrupulous business practices. They are predators.
