We are in a contract that states pre school refund will not be given after July 31st We were verbally told that we can get a refund within 30 days of the start of the school year which would be tomorrow. The school is not accepting that we relied on the verbal advise we received from the head teacher Resolution Sought Refund $1400 tuition deposit

Company states: Apple Montessori is a Preschool & Childcare that operates 15 schools throughout north and central New jersey and has been in business for almost 50 years. All families that enroll are required to sign a Tuition Policy Agreement. Registration fee, supply fee, and one-month deposit are due at the time of application. In this policy states: When written notice of withdrawal is received by Apple Montessori by the end of the calendar month preceding your child's last calendar month of enrollment. When written notice is received after July 31, but before December 15, the deposit will be applied to tuition for the month after the written withdrawal. January is the last month a deposit will be applied to a statement. For example, if Apple Montessori Schools received written notice of withdrawal on October 1, Apple Montessori will apply your deposit payment to the tuition payment due on November 1, and your child's last day of enrollment will be November 30. If Apple Montessori received a written notice of withdrawal on December 16, you must pay the tuition due on January 1, and you will have forfeited your deposit payment, and your child's last day of enrollment will be January 31. The written notice must include the reason for withdrawal and must specify the last day of attendance. No verbal communication is accepted under any circumstances. The Manglanis have been part of Apple Montessori since their child joined for summer camp of 2021. The Manglanis stated that they did not feel that their summer camp experience reflected the tour that was given about the school year. The parents did not mention wanting to leave Apple Montessori but asked general questions about the process in mid-July. Their request to withdraw was on August 3rd, past the date of allowance. parents can withdraw at any time, but we have a no-refund policy on deposits. Apple believes that we have followed our policies and have done our best to satisfy every family with a personalized approach during the pandemic. Deposits are used to pay salaries and expenses involved in running a school -even virtually-which is why they are non-refundable. We are proud that we were able to retain all teachers during this time. The Manglani Family had the option to withdraw at any time, without the return of the deposit. Therefore, we believe no further action needs to be taken at this time.
