I was sold a locking gas cap that on their database states, " Fits your car" , that's the core of it all. The sales person did not inform me that if you install (use ) the gas cap you can't return it. As I was later told it says on small print on rear of receipt. Well, if it in fact were the proper part for my car & was not stated that it was the proper fit for my car in their database this would have never occurred! I would be fine keeping it. As it happened I had to put it in the car to try it. I had only driven 10 - 15 miles with this cap on & as I live 10 miles from town & this AutoZone store; that's not much driving really before my check engine light came on. The car sat parked for several days before I could get back to town as our road washed out in a major storm so here it is just shy of 2 weeks later( not 30 days) & they refuse to refund my money making me keep a part that DOES NOT FIT MY CAR. Falsely stating that the part is correct for my car make model & year, misleading even their own sale personnel into confidently selling me what I'm sure he thought was a good sale of the correct item for this car. This is not my first experience with database listings that are wrong, just first time with this store & over a locking gas cap which is useless to me. That's not why I bought it. I wanted one that was actually correct for my vehicle in truth! Not fraud & theft . Resolution Sought They could have politely apologized for the error, refund my money or find me one that really will fit my car for the comparable price. Inform the main office or whomever is responsible for the erroneous listings, ( mistake or ?) & Either resold item or write it off. It is in good shape in original packaging with both keys & receipt. Instead I am insulted & ripped off & very upset!
