The patient came to Avana Plastic Surgery on 03/31/2022 for a Liposuction 360 with fat transfer to buttocks and an abdomimoplasty extended. Her procedure cost a total of $9000 with Dr. Dress. On 4/19/2022 the patient called the office and spoke to our Nurse Practitioner to inform her that she had been in the hospital because she had bloating. Hospital staff advised patient she had a scroma but they were unable to aspirate the fluid because they did not have a plastic surgeon on staff. Patient was asked how many lymphatic massages she completed after her procedure and she stated two. The NP advised patient that she needed more massages, that two massages postoperative was way below our required amount. The NP also educated patient on the importance of proper compression, in efforts to assist body to reabsorb the seroma. Patient verbalized understanding. Patient has been contacted on a number of occasions and asked to come to the office to be evaluated by the surgeon, in efforts to assist with any postoperative complaints. Unfortunately, at this time we do not owe the patient a refund. We have always been available to assist with any postoperative issues but she has neglected our care. The seroma she developed was due to neglecting to follow our postoperative instruction.
