Black Hills has been notified 3 times about my service request for our new home. Once in December, once the first of January and on Jan 25, 2023. All with promises of returning my call in 3 days from the planning engineer. I met with a field rep in December and he failed to turn in his paperwork to process things for the planner, since then I can't even get a planner to call me. They have hours long wait times on the phone, months long waiting periods for service request. They have a monopoly in our area for natural gas services and have zero ethics of taking care of customers unless you have a leak or need them to light your furnace. Over six weeks in the process now, I haven't gotten my paperwork to complete, I haven't got a call from the planner, nothing. I have never seen a public service company this horrid at taking care of customers. Resolution Sought Service in a timely fashion, deadlines set and actually met within reason, returned phone calls. Action leading to progress. They will shut my service off for not paying my bill but they are not accountable for providing services in a timely matter?

Company Response

Company states: On February 22nd 2023 Black Hills Energy received a complaint from Business Consumer Alliance from Mr. Rehor regarding his service request for his new home at 5—Nebraska, Stratton CO. On December 2nd 2022 Mr. Rehor called in a service request. A site visit was scheduled and conducted later that same month. Unfortunately, the site visit record never made it back to our Utility Construction Specialist group for follow-up. On February 23rd, a second site visit was conducted with Mr. Rehor and the process began once again. A Black Hills Energy field technician took some time with Mr. Rehor and explain the process. The technician educated Mr. Rehor on the permitting process at the state and local level in Kit Carson County. Our technician reached back out to Mr. Rehor on March 3rd 2023, and Mr.Rehor expressed that the process is back on track to get his home set in May, as expected, and he has followed up with DORA on state permitting. Mr. Rehor thanked our technician for his direction through the process. At Black Hills Energy, we tried to keep in close contact with our customers during projects like this. Unfortunately, some things are occasionally missed, and we apologize to Mr. Rehor for any inconvenience this may have caused. Our local office will work with their teams to ensure something like this does not happen again. We appreciate Mr. Rehor patiene through this process. Please reach out if you have additional questions.
