Give notice of increased rents and hire employees to maintain the rooms such as housekeeping.

I currently rent a room at this hotel in which i pay $225 a week for. I was told this week when I went to pay the usual $225 that the rent was now be $250. The owner gave me no notice of the increase before this day. I am with others guests are responsible for cleaning the room ourselves. We have no cleaning lady that comes in to fresh up and change bed sheets as it is done in other hotels. I'm not sure if this is legal for the owner or not. I am not financially able to find other commendation at the moment but looking for it instead. I would like for someone to check into this matter and find out it he is in his legal rights to give no notice about an increase in renting rooms in his hotel without notice. I staying at this hotel with my boyfriend.
