Deliberate misconception with replacing splintering engineered hardwood originally installed in October 2021. Instead of replacing the boards yesterday (as they promised and as they reported was done), they filled the splintered areas with putty, added colorant, then covered with a sealer or varnish. I have photos of these splintered boards taken a few hours before they arrived at my home. A neighbor unlocked the door for him, as I was assured he was a dependable and reliable carpenter of over 20 years of service with them. Simpli-safe reveals videos of him cutting one board, diagonally. He took all the extra boards. This has been a continual installation and product problem beginning with excessive glue, failure to remove sticky footprints after multiple cleanings (cleaning service $150), requiring extra time for handicapped family to remain in hotel $450., meals $150. Food spoilage due to refrigerator being left unplugged over a weekend - $350. Splinters 6" long, including 1" in the bottom of my foot ($10 medicine), small splinters in socks, etc. Workers did return the 3rd time to buff well. Manufacturer doesn't accept that it is faulty material. Carpet Den does not accept it as faulty installation. It is evidently faulty engineered hardwood as it hasn't had time to receive any damage and was mopped with a Swiffer (originally agreed as acceptable by Carpet Den). Splinters have continued since October, even after a few boards were replaced last week. Resolution Sought Carpet Den should stand behind their product and their installation. I was told this product was the same as the one we had to replace due to a water leak in April 2021. It is definitely an inferior product as we had no splintering issues with that flooring in our new home. We loved it. This BPI Countryside scratches easily, is a softer wood, thinner engineered top layer, uneven beveled edges, imperfections -splits and splinters.
