I approached Carson's Auto after a blown head gasket on my road worthy vehicle that I regularly drove. I was stranded and friends had to drive me around to try to get me a vehicle. I came onto the lot and told her my story and the situation I was in with my car and needing a replacement. I explicitly said I needed a replacement for my car, which clearly wouldn't be something illegal to put on the road. I asked about an Expedition on the lot and she told me, that vehicle wasn't ready and they had to fix the transmission fluid. But then she proceeded to redirect me to what I realize now were wholesale vehicles on the lot. She told me that the 2006 Toyota 4-Runner that I bought was bought and drove clear from Charleston (around 1.5 hours away). They put me in a car to test drive, that after inspection I find out that parts of the frame are missing and spotted welding done. Once I contacted the Attorney General after inspection, they withheld the title for 4 months. The Division of Motor Vehicles in WV says they can't do that. The lawyer referral number for Ashland, Kentucky is discontinued. Frankfort, Kentucky lawyer service stops answering their phone and sends it to voicemail at a time before their office even closes. I called before 4:30 and proceeded to be redirected to the answering machine that even tells you that they are open until 4:30 (The Attorney General referred me here). The entire state of Kentucky doesn't acknowledge malicious intent by an opportunist. Resolution Sought I would like compensation for withholding the Title on the Toyota 4-Runner until I had to buy another vehicle that I could legally drive. I initially asked for over $10,000 but I would hate to continue going this route if I don't have to.
