Customer Complaint

After researching vehicles online, I contacted CarWise Peoria about a vehicle I was interested in. This particular vehicle currently has 4 open safety recalls dating back at least a few years. CarWise of course was quick to respond to my online inquiry to invite me in for a test drive, but completely ignored my inquiry about the open recalls, not once, but twice. They completely ignored my question on what they intended to do about the safety recalls. Upon further research, they had yet another vehicle listed for sale that also has open and active safety recalls. Very dishonest approach. Resolution Sought Acknowledge the validity that they are selling vehicles with active safety recalls. These recalls should be resolved prior to deceiving customers that purchase an unsafe vehicle.

Company Response

1/4/2024

Company states; We received the BCA complaint from Mr. Sluis this morning and would like to respond to his exchange with our customer service agents after engaging with us through Cars.com on the 18th of December 2023. 100 per cent of used car dealers in the nation sell vehicles with active recalls. Not all recalls are safety related and could be something as simple as a software update or the replacement of a turn indicator, sometimes a little more involved. Nevertheless, the manufacturer will repair / resolve open recalls at no cost to any consumer, regardless of whether or not they are the original or third owner. Used car dealerships are under no obligation to resolve active recalls on every vehicle in their inventory. The purchaser of any used vehicle with active recalls is able to take the vehicle to the franchised dealership associated with the make of the vehicle at no cost to themselves other than time. Finally, our scheduling team (BDC), does not have access to vehicle histories nor records. They are limited in their scope of responsibility to initial / follow-up contact and scheduling. Specific questions pertaining to the current condition of a vehicle should be addressed to a sales professional or sales manager within the store. As Mr. Sluis has suffered no injury, whether real or perceived, we consider this matter closed. Thank you,
