no one should have to give personal information
This morning, November 3, 2023, I went to the Check Cashing at 1869 Second Ave, NYC 10029 to add money to my NetSpend Card. The young man asked me for my date of birth and when I refused to give him my date of birth, he said he couldn't add money to my card. I asked for my money back and left. I have been going there for years. But over the last year I have noticed that they have so many new people that it makes me wonder if something is going on. Once as soon as the new people began to come and work there at that location, I began to have people trying to charge things to my card from Latin American Countries. So, I had to get a new card over a year ago and I haven't had a problem since then. But today when this young man asked for my personal information, it makes me think that they want your information for their personal use. And besides, no one should have to give personal information to add money to their debit account, purchase money orders or pay utility bills. This problem must be corrected immediately. A month ago, I saw the same thing happen to two (2) females paying utility bills and buying money orders: they were asked for their social security number and date of birth at a CFSC: Check Cashing 167 E 87th Street, NYC, 10128. They questioned the clerk who replied that they had to give the information. The women were reluctant to give the information but did so anyway.
