Being in our house, after all the work he did, makes us happy every day.

Gary Chagnon did a major renovation on our house and we were extremely pleased with his work. He is very detail oriented and knowledgable and does very high quality work. We would recommend him to anyone. The reason we hired him is because he was the first person (of several) who was able to figure out why our old floor was so slanted. We hired him to help straighten it out and to fix the many problems in our basement. While he was doing that work in the basement, we had a contractor upstairs putting in a new wooden floor, now that the floor was even enough to install a new floor. We were staying elsewhere while this work was done, and Gary took it upon himself to let us know that the floor was not being installed correctly. With our permission, he got the contractor to redo the parts that were installed incorrectly. After that, we hired him to install new siding on the outside of the house, a big project which involved moving window locations and adding insulation where it was missing. Gary paid attention to things like the shadow line made by the new hardy planks. Because our house is old and not straight, the shadows would have accetuated minor curves in our walls if he put in the usual number of nails in the planks. Instead, he put in extra nails so that the shadow lines were straight. He was also extremely accommodating as we kept adding to the project, including redoing the kitchen. We found someone to install soapstone countertops and he adapted his schedule to that of the guys installing the countertops. We also wanted maple cabinets that were made by a local firm and needed to be painted and he found a guy to do the work who used to be a professional cabinet painter. He also helped us out by installing some built-in cabinets we had purchased, coming in on the weekend and charging us an hourly rate that made it affordable for us. In addition, we hired his wife, who is a painter, to paint some of the walls on the first floor as well as all the new trim he installed. We hired her by the hour, but when Gary thought that she took more hours to complete the job than he had predicted, he cut the price to what he thought it should be. In general, we thought his prices were fair given the high quality of the work. We did have to wait for some of the work to get done, but that is because his summer schedule was already pretty full when we hired him, and then we kept adding to the project and so he did his best to squeeze us in. Gary is friendly and easy to work with. Most of all, you can trust that he really knows what he is doing. It has been a good six or seven years since he did the work and we have had no problems. Being in our house, after all the work he did, makes us happy every day.

Gary was great. He was friendly and easy to work with.

Chagnon Building & Remodeling was hired for a kitchen remodel, dining room and playroom remodel. I was overall pleased with the finished result. Gary was great. He was friendly and easy to work with. The job did take a little longer to complete, but in the end everything turned out good and I feel comfortable recommending Gary to family and friends.
