I rent a townhouse at Kearsley Creek Townhomes, managed by Charger Properties, in Davison, MI. I have been a resident for the past 9 years. My hot water heater went out in August and had to be replaced. They charged me $450 stating damages that I did not do. On top of that, since it wasn't paid with my most recent rent payment they added an addition late fee of $50. It is not my responsibility to pay for upkeep. That's what I pay rent for. I disputed with the rental office however they are stating charges will remain. Resolution Sought Charges for hot water heater and late fee removed.

Company states; The resident, was charged for the hot water heater after our on-call service technician was informed that parts of the unit were taken apart rather than called in and reported to the main office, causing damage to the heater that otherwise could have fixed without charge.

Customer Rebuttal

There is no proof that the hot water heater was taken apart or attempted to be fixed prior to the maintenance call. It's simply their word over mine. I nor any other person, who came and went, in my apartment took the hot water heater apart. I pay rent so they fix issues like this. I did not take it apart. For them to continue to say I did is simply slander. I was a good resident for 9 years with an untarnished rental history. What Charger Properties is claiming is a lie.

They have not fixed my account, they ignore my requests for being present for a lock change I requested, and they left my door unlocked when I asked them not to. Resolution Sought To be treated as a tenant and follow legalities, their is a lease and documents for a reason, when renting. Their feelings about who I am and why knows me, is none of their business.

Company Response

Company states: Ms. Boyer requested that we change her locks on her front door as she felt someone tried to break into her apartment. In conversation with the Property Manager, she stated that she wanted to be present, but she works the same hours as the office, so she set it up to be home at 4:45pm on the 7th. The manager let her know she would need to be there so she could get a new set of keys for the lock. Ms. Boyer left a voicemail on the office phone the morning of the 7th that was missed by the manger stating she would not be home so we followed through on her request. We proceeded to change her locks, closed the door and left keys in her apartment for her. She has requested we secure the screw for her catch on the door which has been completed.
