Last year I received a bill from Columbia Debt Recovery in Everett, WA for $325.00. Now their charges are $500+ due to interest. Someone tried to use my credit card at Laurel Heights at Cityview, Fort Worth, TX to apply for an apartment and Discover declined the charge. Around the same time Discover declined other fraudulent charges attempted with my card. I doubt services were rendered when the card was declined but Laurel Heights turned the charge over to Columbia for collection. I think that is very unusual - no $$ lost. I immediately sent a letter to the credit bureaus explaining these were not my charges and stating FCRA 605B. I also phoned Columbia Recovery and Laurel Heights and explained these were not my charges. Experian just sent me a notice that they have investigated and will not be removing this charge . I live with my elderly parents in Georgia and do not have any debts other than a credit card and I have a perfect record of payment. I have never desired to move to Texas and will live here as long as my parents live. I tried to get a police report filed but was told the police don't do them here. Columbia asked for a number of things which I did not send because I couldn't get a police report and didn't want to send a copy of my driver's license to a company with a BBB credit rating of F. My parents will be available to speak when I'm at work. Mom helped me with this and you can speak to her in my absence . My work hours are erratic. Resolution Sought I would like to have my credit rating corrected with all three bureaus and this ridiculous charge removed. This has caused me a lot of anxiety and worry.
