Customer Complaint

11/17/2021

11/02/2021, I took my car in for service and had tires rotated and oil changed, an inspection was performed on my car, and no where on the Inspection form did it mention I needed brakes. A few days later while driving my car and trying to slow down existing the freeway my car was shaking. On 11/10/2021, I took my car back into the Service Department and was told I need brakes all around the car. I wanted to know why I wasn't told this on 11/2/2021 when the tires where rotated and the oil changed. Paul said maybe there was a rock logged there, her explanation didn't make since to me. On 11/10/2021 I checked my RX350 Lexus vehicle, the wheel lock key was not returned to me. I contacted Paula Zapien, Service Advisor 202244, (310)325-7602. requesting my wheel lock key, and got the run around. I left voice mail message for Gary Suit, Operation Manager, no return call. I contacted Clara Serna, Customer Service Rep. no return call. On 11/15/2021, I went down to Lexus South Bay and purchased a new Wheel Lock Key for $24.64. I don't believe I really needed breaks, but was taken and advantage. I purchased this car from this location 3/18/2019, $25,788 Miles, On 11/2/2021. 34,498 miles. During this past year I haven't really driven my car. I had to have a water pump replaced in 2/20/2021. This was the worst experience I have ever had while getting service performed on my car. I was encouraged by the Service Representative to have the work performed there. Resolution Sought Return half of cost of the breaks, and refund the cost of the new Wheel Lock key $24.64. plus gas for driving all round to get the Wheel Lock Key.

Company Response

11/29/2021

The brakes were replaced due to a vibration on the second visit. The customer approved this work. On the first visit an inspection was done and found the pads were ok but the customer did not mention a vibration. We replaced the pads on the second visit as we recommend to do this when addressing the vibration but can not be found in a visual inspection unless the customer states there is a vibration, which she did on the second visit. I will reimburse the customer for the wheel lock key for $24.64 but unfortunately will not be able to assist with the brake repair.

Customer Rebuttal

Upon purchasing this vehicle on 3/18/2019, this car had 25,788 miles. On 2/20/2021 I had to replace the water pump. You shouldn't have to replace a full set of brakes after driving a car 8,071 miles. This car was certified by the dealer. Brakes last between 30,000-35,000 miles. During the last year and half. I haven’t driven this car to the point I needed brakes. I don't believe the car was fully inspected. At no time did the Customer Representative inform in writing there was a problem with the brakes when I took it in for service. I drive less than 4,000 miles year. I can’t accept that this car was fully inspected at the time of purchase. The Service Representative said, there are other repairs needed on the car. Did I buy Lemon?
