On the 23rd of January 2024 I purchased a 2019 GMC Yukon. During the purchasing process we were led to believe that the vehicle was in good condition because the car salesman informed us that the vehicle had just been inspected by their maintenance shop as well as providing us a Car-fax report upon request. On the 14th of February The vehicle began to exhibit transmission problems which consisted of slipping gears and inability to catch higher gears. We were unable to move the vehicle until the 28th of February because the vehicle was inoperable. At Howell's Service Center we were informed that the error codes for our vehicle were 30,000 miles overdue and that it would be very improbable for us to have caused that much damage to the transmission. I hoped to have the dealership help with the transmission repairs but the manager insisted that they sold the vehicle as is and it was our fault for not purchasing an extended warranty. Resolution Sought I would like the dealership to pay for the transmission repair or at least pay for half the repair.

Company Response

Company states; We are sorry to hear about the problems you are having with your 2019 GMC Yukon, VIN 1GKS1AKC0KR200480. We have received your request for help and have tried to reach out to you by telephone several times. We would love it if every vehicle we sold never wore out or needed repairs, including the ones we have bought for ourselves. However, as much as we try to have our vehicles checked and serviced, we cannot predict the future of every vehicle we sell. We did have the vehicle safety checked and performed minor repairs done by a licensed repair facility prior to your purchase. It looks like you then purchased the vehicle on 01/30/2024 with 104,056 miles. This vehicle was purchased "AS IS" which you signed. Every customer has the opportunity to take the vehicle and have it inspected by the repair facility of their choice, that way we are all aware of any problems at the time of sale. In addition, customers are offered a Service Contract to purchase, to help cover unforeseen expenses like these. We want all of our customers to be happy, so this is what we can do to help. We got a quote from the transmission shop we use for approximately $4,200. After signing a release agreement, we will write you a check for half the repairs, that's $2,100. You're free to get the repair done at the facility of your choice, however we are only going to pay for half of the estimate that was quoted by the shop we use. If you agree to these terms, please let me know by replying to this email. My office staff will then get this coordinated for you to sign the release agreement and have a check ready for you to pick up. Sincerely, Officer
