After only 3 1/2 yrs of owning a brand new KIA Telluride, all of a sudden the engine started knocking. Very long story short, I proved regular maintenance was performed and the service department confirmed under the valve cover was clean and there was no sludge or evidence of neglect on my part. An oil pressure light never came on on the dashboard and the engine light came on the night before the engine blew with no the vehicle having no symptoms, light was off next morning. Drove to work without issue and upon drvg home the engine started knocking. It has been determined that the issue with the engine is a "rod bearing issue". This is the identical issue as other model engines that KIA has called. Because this specific wngine has not made it to the recall list yet, and my vehicle is out of warranty and even though it was proven the issie was not from negligence on my part the regional service manager will only cover 50 of cost to replace the engine. I feel that since it has been proven there is no negligence on my end, and it happens to be the same issue with the recalled engines that I should not be responsible to pay for any of it. They have had my vehicle for over a month, the valve cover wasnt pulled until I went to the shop and confronted my service guy then miraculously it was pulled that day! I am on rental car #2 and am out almost $5,000.00 for the rental fees. I feel they are taking advantage of me because I am a woman as well. Please help!! Resolution Sought I would like the business to cover all costs of replacing the engine- labor/parts/etc. , and I would like to be refunded for the rental fees due to them dragging their feet to get the car even looked at. This should not have taken a month to pull the valve cover!

Customer Rebuttal

They have offered 50 for a known issue of other KIA motors that have been recalled. It was founded that the issue was not a result of any neglect on my part, out of warranty yes but it is just 4 yrs old. They are using the out of warranty as their weight to be able to not cover the replacement which just proves this company is NOT going to do whats ethically right. I am also out $5000+ in rental car fees because they have had my vehicle sitting in their lot with no information about how long till it gets repaired, as miraculously an engine was secured and ordered and I was told it would be there in 7-10 business days max, to the following day being told the engine is now on back order. My vehicle has been at dealer since Nov 22nd, 2003. How do they expect people to keep shelling out $5k/mo for rental cars for the unknown amount of months needed waiting for this engine to arrive!? Not to mention making payments on a vehicle you cant drive and isnt even in your possession??
