Customer Complaint

After receiving 4 pairs of Northface Territory Gloves bought from Dicks Sporting Goods for Christmas, I went to return them according to the No Proof Of Purchase Dicks Sporting Goods policy. Before arriving to make the return, I called and asked if the particular gloves I had were on sale in the past at any time . I was told "No". That the price had always been the original price. The spokesperson said that they were never on sale and that the current price was $45. Dick's Sporting Goods policy is to issue the last selling price for any item returned that does not have proof of purchase there's another policy that says if it is ever on sale for a cheaper price than what you bought it for you will receive the cheaper you will get the item for the cheaper price and that they will refund the difference when I got to the store they did not honor the customer return policy of no proof of purchase they told me that the price the item had been on sale in there for $2 and that that was the price they were giving for a no proof of purchase return for each pair of gloves. I also recorded the conversation of them telling me gloves had never been on sale and that I would be issued current price of $45 which they said I would receive per pair for my no proof of purchase return. Resolution Sought I would like to be issued store credit for the gloves according to their policy ,which would be the lowest price the item had ever been on sale for at that location. This policy is in effect currently until January 31, 2024 for the gifting season.

Company Response

1/22/2024

Company states: The lowest sale price in our system is company wide and not controlled by individual stores. Which means it would not have to be on sale in any specific store location. Valid proof of purchase would be a receipt, a debit or credit card used for the purchase, or a phone number that was used on the purchased linked to a rewards account. If need be, the customer can always contact corporate customer service for a receipt/proof of purchase.
