My vehicle was towed in for engine problems. Previously experiencing oil consumption issues/discussion of needing new engine. After car sat for a month with multiple calls and discussions with advisor finally received call that vehicle needed a vcm motor. I spent at least 10 minutes actually arguing with the tech that the service garage I regularly maintain my car with told me it was the engine and it would need to be towed to a Hyundai dealer (knowing this was an on going oil consumption issue which was previously discussed in detail with Dickson City Hyundai) the tech repeated to me, I believe three times that "mam, there is nothing wrong with your engine" it needs a vcm motor assembly. I repeat that I argued with him how can that be? I was told by my garage it was my engine but he insisted that, that would fix my car. So i agreed to have them do the repair. After the repair I was contacted and informed that my car needed an engine! Hello!!! Yes, my car needed an engine. He advised simply fixing the vcm motor didn't work. He said he wouldn't know that until after it was replaced. Having to do with misfire in cylinder. However, it states right on my receipt that there was a misfire in the cylinder before he replaced the vcm assembly. I feel the work was done unnecessarily and that I was deceived and mislead into having it done. I tried repeatedly to resolve this at the dealership, I'm person, over the phone, even sending emails but no one is available or returns calls/e Resolution Sought Refund me $526.00

Ms. Andrewski 2015 Hyundai Sonata with 111,018 miles on it was towed into Dickson City Hyundai March 16th 2022 for a no power concern , going up hills . Not sure why she didn't have her mechanic fix the car if he knew for sure that the engine was bad . That being said in we scanned the engine it showed that the VCM was stuck closed , and a misfire in cylinder 4 . In order to do a compress test on the engine the VCM motor needs to be operational , hence why she said it was ok to replace , which we did . Then we proceeded with a compression test and found Cylinder 4 had only 40 pounds of pressure ( Normal is 170 to 190 pounds based on the high miles ) We have a lot of Hyundai's come in with the same problem , no power concern with the same codes . The changing of the VCM 95 % of the time fixes the car , and the misfire code is activated by the bad VCM . In this case we had two problems unfortunately . I am sorry Ms Andrewski has a bad engine . Not sure if she drove the car off the lot or had it towed . I have attached all the repair orders and Jeff the Technician notes . Jeff is a Highly Trained Hyundai Certified Technician who takes his job very seriously . Thank You and I hope this brings some clarity to this terrible situation involving the 2015 Hyundai Sonata .
