Had insurance with Erie Insurance ,thru local agent Geoff Campbell in Harrogate Tn...Got a bill Oct 2021, showing car, house, and farm insurance due by Nov 14 2021,. Decided to shop around and State farm not only matched their price but uped my house by 80k in coverage. Took out new polices on Nov 25 2021 with State Farm. Started gettin snail mail from Erie in Dec thru Feb, since their polisy showed end dates on my coverages Nov 14th, i didnt open the Erie mail i shredded it. Now April 2022 i get 3 letters from collection agency wanting payments for house ,car, and farm foer coverage Nov 14th thru Jan. I called and advised Erie that i changed companies and date of all policies show ending Nov 14th. They said it don't work like that with us, you have to call and show proof of insurance with another company. Sounds like BS to me. If I change cell phones from Verizon to ATT ,its none of verizons business. I checked all my policies and all the forms i have signed and there is no clause in none of my policies stating thet i have to call Erie or provide proof of insurance with someone else. Reason Campbell insurance is mentioned , I took all my old policies and insurance cards to my agent and told him to show me a statement on policy or card where that is factual. He said that is a policy of ERIE, but it was never told at time of coverage and they say thats what the letters were about about that i shreded. Thats after the fact and after i dropped insurance with Erie. Resolution Sought Call collection agency, tell them it was a mistake, send me a letter of apology with a statement showing $0 owed and in the future inform client of their continual billing unless notified by the customer their services is no longer needed. If i dont pay water, phone, electric or cable bill, it terminates on certain date and cut off. On house payment, no payment bank forcloses. So how does ERIE wait a month after effective date of coverage pass then start billing you, no insurance/no claim paid

Company Response

4/20/2022

This is in response to your correspondence dated April 5, 2022 and received April 6, 2022, regarding Mr. Campbell's complaint concerning the automatic renewal of his ERIE policies. In ERIE's policy Jackets, under the section: RIGHT AND DUTIES – GENERAL POLICY CONDITIONS – it states: CONTINUOUS POLICY This policy is a continuous policy. It will continue in force until cancelled by "you" or terminated by "us" as explained in the CANCELLATION AND NONRENEWAL condition. Each year "we" will send "you" a "Declarations" that shows the premium due for the next policy period. In return for this service, "you" must mail "us" written notice prior to the new policy period if "you" want to cancel. If "we" do not receive this notice, this policy remains in force and "you" must pay "us" the earned premium due for this time. With this being said, we believe this matter to be resolved and the Campbell's policies have been cancelled per their request. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (814) 870-3210 or via email at officeofthepresident@erieinsurance.com. Customer Rebuttal

My effective date on contracts on car and house, shows effective dates of coverage starting Nov 14 2020 and ending Nov 14 2021. There is nothing on your website tahat address continual coveral if premiums not paid. I also visited agent Geoff Campbells office to have him show my signature on anf form saying that coverage continued without payment. Why did your agent or Erie make a call or send an email asking isf i wanted to keep coverage, seems a good business would contact someone who has spent over 60k doing business with your company. There was a pandemic, agents office closed due to Covid, both my wife and I were sick, and even the agent had an employee die with Covis, so i wasnt wanting to wade in on that virus. I rwent to agents office last week and ask for him to show me in my policy or your contract where it shows continual coverage unless i make payment. He could not show me any clause to that effect, nor did he have my signature on any form showing that

This is in response to your correspondence dated April 20, 2022 and received April 22, 2022, regarding additional questions Mr. Campbell has concerning the automatic renewal of his ERIE policies. The policies for the Campbell's Auto, Home and Personal Catastrophe coverage were placed in effect November 9, 2013 to November 9, 2014 and automatically renewed every year to present. As I previously stated in ERIE's policy Jacket, under the section: RIGHT AND DUTIES – GENERAL POLICY CONDITIONS – it states: CONTINUOUS POLICY This policy is a continuous policy. If "we" do not receive this notice, this policy rem
