In early February 2024 I received a text message from straight talk, who I have my ACP (affordable connectivity program) they are the provider for me. I've been with straight talk for many years. The text message informed me that I was no longer enrolled in the ACP with them and that the FCC had contacted them and let them know that I had switched to a different provider. I was shocked and upset. Because I certainly was never made aware that any such thing was going to occur. I started getting emails from a company called Excess Telecom. That said I needed to make an $11 copay for the tablet, that was okay with me that's understandable. But when they told me that I had been switched to them as my provider I couldn't believe it because I never agreed to any such thing. I told him I've never even heard of "Excess Telecom" and I then ask them can I make phone calls on the tablet? They said I had to install an app. Well I got in touch with straight talk, and apparently no one can enroll into the ACP program after February 6th ! Meaning I was out of luck. I representative from straight talk stayed on the phone with me and tried to help me re-enroll back into the ACP. It didn't work. But later that night I tried again and I was able to re-enroll. I'm thankful for that! This so called "company".... is not truthful and above board,they are deceiving people. Google says they are based out of Los Angeles California. Thank you for taking my complaint . Resolution Sought The desired outcome I hope for, is for the company Excess Telecom to be forced to stop their shady business practices. I hope they will not be allowed to misinform people anymore. The company should be telling people up front that you are going to be removed from your previous provider! I absolutely was not aware of that whatsoever, and I have read other people's complaints that also was not made aware that they were being switched from their current provider. This needs to stop NOW.

The company has not fulfilled their side of our agreement which was I would receive a tablet a sum card and service within 10 to 14 business days they failed to do so. I have attempted to resolve the issue multiple times without success. I ask for a refund yesterday which I was informed I may or may not receive the refund and they could not provide me with anything like a reciept or email saying that I would receive my refund within any reasonable amount of time. I have not received my device and they took my 30 dollars credit for acp this month as well. Resolution Sought I want my 23 dollars back that paid for the tablet and I want my 30 dollar credit that was taken prematurely which would have paid on my phone bill. I needed the tablet for school. I would also like the company to take responsibility and be examined as a potential scam. Others have had the same issues I have read several reviews although I should have before choosing them. They were recommended by my school though. I can't get them to put a supervisor on the phone with me or call me back.
