I purchased a water softener system from Fidelis. I know, stupidly paying $6,990. The salesperson said it would cost me $80 a month and that's it. Ok, I figure that would take maybe 7 or 8 years. I'm 73 so hopefully I'll live that long. So the guy said $80 a month. The paperwork has $6,990 x 80 at 7.9 APR and 0 Finance charge. I got a bill from PCI (Preferred Credit, Inc) showing that from 10/8 to 10/20/22 the interest charged is $10.71 and I now owe $7000.71. Then I get another statement from them saying 10/21/22-11/19/22 I now owe $7,046, interest charge of $45.90. First, it's supposed to be no finance charge, so why are they charging me. Second, the salesman never once told me I would be paying interest over and over. Per PCI if I pay the minimum if $80 it will take me 11 years and total cost will be $10,594.97. This is deceptive business selling, preying on the elderly (I'm 73), and false. Resolution Sought Pay the $80 for the term with no interest/finance charge as salesman told me over and over. Pay only the $6,990 only as I was told.

Per consumer: Yes, we did settle. The owner/CEO of Fidelis decided to give me $1,634 to put on the principal so my $80 payment will pay off the system in 7 years as it should have without the interest/finance charge. Mr Sproule, the CEO/owner said the salesman should have indicated on my contract a revolving interest but he did not do that, he had '0' in that space. I am satisfied with the payment for the interest.
