Thank you for the opportunity to assist Ms. Grimes with her complaint filed with Business Consumer Alliance regarding her deposit account. First Mid Bank & Trust records indicate that on September 14 2022, Ms. Grimes signed an account closure letter to keep her dormant account from being as escheated, and requested the funds be mailed to her. The cashier's check was mailed to her by certified mail on September 27th, 2022. Records indicate that the United States Postal Service (USPS) sent Ms. Grimes a first notice to pick up the letter on September 30th, 2022, and the second notice on October 5th, 2022. With the letter not being claimed, the USPS returned the letter to First Mid Bank & Trust on October 15th, 2022 as unclaimed. A review of all documents shows a cashier's check was mailed to the correct address as indicated in Ms. Grimes complaint. A further review of bank records indicates that no contact was received from Ms. Grimes until the bank received a complaint in December of 2024.
