I was referred to Franks for diagnostic test on my car. I was charged a fee of $120.00 to find out what I needed. He called a week later to tell me that I needed a MAP sensor and that it was going to cost me $500+ dollars to fix. I declined. When I picked up the car, he added on charges that I refused to pay. When I did research on a MAP sensor for the car, there is s no MAP sensor for that year. I don't believe he did any test on the car at all. He tried to scam me. I'm going to have to do another diagnostic to find the problem. He had my car for over a week. More than enough time to check it out. I am a female and he took that for granted. Resolution Sought I would like a refund for services not done.

I have been in business for 35 years and can assure you that we treat all of our customers with equal respect and care; whether race, religion or sex. I am sorry to hear of Ms. Dubose's dissatisfaction. Our normal process is that there is a standard check-in and diagnostic fee of $120 for every vehicle that is brought into our shop. This rate is the same for every customer and you will find this fee is far less expensive than all dealerships as well as most automotive repair shops. this fee is to cover our time with accessing and troubleshooting problems with vehicles. As most businesses accrue costs of equipment, employees, utilities, etc. Once the problem is diagnosed, we apply the $120 assessment fee to any additional charges that may occur with problems. This check in fee is explained to every customer and they agree to cover the diagnosis as well as any repairs performed. As you will see on the work order provided, Ms. Dubose signed her name and agreed to these terms. Upon scanning the vehicle we determined that there was MAF sensor issue. my apologies, as my writing can get sloppy when we are busy. Just to be clear, this was a MAF sensor issue and not a MAP sensor issue. We then had to spend adequate amount of time trying to locate this sensor as it is an older vehicle and parts are not easy to come by. Especially with Covid. We were able to locate the sensor which would have costs us $141.00 plus tax and shipping of $20.00. this pat number is F6S12B579 AA. We also determined that this vehicle would need a Throttle Body which is not manufactured and we are not able to locate this part anymore and therefore cannot fix this. We then notified Ms. Dubose that we could replace the sensor, but the throttle body would still be an issue. Ms. Dubose then elected to "Decline Repairs at this time". He deposit then is nonrefundable and covers the costs to diagnose her vehicle as well as research to locate parts which was several hours. We are sorry to inform that we believe our charges were within our agreed terms signed by Ms. Dubose.
