I found a contractor on Angie's List, Good News Builders. I hired them and paid deposit of $2062.50 to build a fence. They never built the fence. I tried on numerous occasions to get Michael Bates and Good News Builders to fulfill the contract we both signed. I eventually had to hire someone else to build our fence because Michael Bates and Good News Builders repeatedly lied to us about coming to build a fence that we paid $2062.50 down payment for on 3.6.2021. After 2 complaints to BBB and firing of Good News Builders, Michael Bates showed up in front of our house calling my husband to start the job. Due to breach of contract by Michael Bates and Good News Builders we sent them away. Good News Builders told BBB and my husband that they would refund our $2062.50 in 7-10 days. That was in the first week of May. I have now filed a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General Office because they still have not refund my $2062.50. And are not responding to the Attorney General. Resolution Sought Full refund of $2062.50

We were to build a fence for this customer, weather put us behind schedule customer contacted our office we responded to customers husband who did not relay our message to her which was we would be starting project after Memorial Day. We called ops the prior week to mark utilities. Crew showed up on 6/2/21 to start excavation, home owner informed crew she wanted to cancel contact and wanted a full refund. Salesman contacted home owner informed her husband refund will be granted within 7-10 business days which in return he thanked us. Two days later we get a call from our credit card company informing us customer disputed credit card charge, we didn't issue a refund until funds that were frozen in our account was released. If we would have issued a refund customer would have received two payments in the amount of $2062.50. In no manner were we working against consumer she elected to contact agencies after we agreed to refund deposit, we contacted her credit card company to get assurance they would not reverse the charge, once we received confirmation a refund check was issued. Refund was sent certified mail.

Fence contractor problem 5.12.2021@ 2:12 pm called and left a message to Michael at good news builder. Michael called my husband and told him that on May 21, 2021 he would have the OUPS people out to the house to mark the yard. And on May 24 he would start in the gate. 5.15.2021 @ My husband called and left a message and Michael Bates didn’t return the call. 5.21.2021 @ 1:20 pm contacted OUPS and no request for service at our house was made under our address or Good News Builders. 5.21.2021 @ 1:26 pm. Called Good News Builders and asked why they didn’t schedule the marking of the yard. Informed them that I contacted OUPS and no request for service at our house was made under our address or Good News Builders. My husband requested a call back from Michael Bates 5.21.201 @ 1:46 I called back and expressed my frustration with being lied to about the beginning of work on our fence. Spoke with the receptionist about being ignored and being told untruths. The receptionist was informed that I called OUPS to find out if there was any schedule job to mark our yard and was informed that it wasn’t. Requested a call back from Michael Bates by 3 pm.
