My husband moved out with the bill in his name. He was to pay it as I was paying the mortgage alone. He sent me a copy of a pending shut off notice, so I called the office and spoke to a nice girl that was going to see if she should add me to my husband's acct, because I think her amount due was less than the new service or reconnection fee. I expressed my concern about the water getting shut off in it meantime and she assured me we still had plenty of time and I would receive notice prior. On June 14th, my husband decided to shut off the water and not pay the bill. I hadn't heard back from the water company and honestly had forgotten about it with so much else going on in my life being newly alone and having no income while await a disability claim that was filed end in May of 2021. When I called the office to speak to the girl, she said my name was on the bill and I was responsible for the balance as well as the $75 reconnection fee. She acted as if she had no memory of our prior call and when I spoke to Emily, the manager, she was very unsympathetic of my dilemma and spoke to me in a degrading way. I told her I was going to look into assistance programs or borrow the money and then she told me that her people left at 2pm (it was 2:10) and I would be unable to get the water back on that day! I have spent the last 2 days without water trying to find assistance without luck. I need someone to help me figure this out because the was I was treated was wrong and just mean! Resolution Sought I would like my name taken off my husband's bill and I would like the water turned on in my name waiving any fees. I qualify for assistance just need to figure it out.
