I was living in Omaha, NE and rented a property that was supposed to start on March 1, 2024 in Keokuk IA. As I was relocating to Keokuk. I arrived at the property on March 1st. I was informed the property is not clean and when I did my walk through of the house the house was uninhabitable. I seen 2 mice climb out of a hole in the foundation, and the foundation is full of holes and cracks. There also is a hole in the kitchen floor that shows through to the outside. I informed I am not going to be renting that property due to the condition and the business has refused to give me back my deposit of $1075 a pet deposit of $500 first, last and Aprils rent all of $975. For a total of $4500 that they are withholding from me. I have emailed management and informed why I am requesting a full refund and I also contacted an attorney and was told to send a email demanding my full refund and send a certified letter to them as well. Which I did. I also spoke to the neighbors at the property to which they stated 4 people have moved in and out of the property within the last 2 years and they said they knew that the house had a bat infestation. I am not getting answers from the business and am homeless at this point with no money. Resolution Sought Give me a full refund as soon as possible! I have children and no home and no money as I put everything into this house to secure us until I can get a job in the new city we moved to.
