On Thursday afternoon, December 1st, just after 3:00 pm, I visited the dealership with the intent of finding a Used vehicle. I told the salesman that it would be a Cash transaction. After being shown a vehicle, I made a $4,000 deposit on a $14,816 vehicle with the understanding that the balance would be paid some time next week when I received the funds from out of town. He said that would be fine as they still had to change the brake pads, clean up the car, etc. That very night on reviewing the docs, I realized the cost of the vehicle was actually $10,988 and the additional $4,000 consisted of all sorts of exorbitant fees and taxes. The following morning at 7:54 am (less than 24 hours later) I advised the salesman that I was no longer interested in purchasing the vehicle and requested he return my deposit because (1) I found the add-on fees to be outrageous (2) I never took possession of the vehicle (3) it never left their lot and (4) I believed that customers usually had at least a 24-hour window in which to reconsider. Several messages later, I was told that the deposit was non-refundable. I informed the salesman that had that been the case, I was never made aware of it and asked that he send me proof that I was so informed. He couldn't and didn't, but later informed me that I could put the deposit towards the purchase of another vehicle. I absolutely do not wish to do business with this dealership and have no further interest in purchasing a vehicle from them. Resolution Sought I would kindly like them to return my $4,000 deposit for the four reasons stated above, added to the fact that had I been informed that my deposit was non-refundable, I would not have proceeded with the transaction. I feel I was denied the right to make the best decision for myself.
