The Haircuttery shops are clean, bright, and the hairdressers are friendly and experienced. However, on my second visit, with my husband, I called for an appointment w/the same stylist. There was no mention of an extra charge when we paid w/a credit card - we both left $5 tips for each stylist. We weren't given a receipt until we asked for one, and found an additional $5 charge, which we were then told was for my request for an appointment. We felt the charge was dishonest as there was no signage in the shop or on the website indicating such a fee. Assuming it was an individual incident, for our haircuts, we visited another shop, assuming that without an appointment or request, there would be no extra charge. There wasn't. Six weeks later, however, we returned - the shop was empty and the stylist who cut my hair previously came up to say hello. The receptionist interrupted to ask if I'd like that stylist to cut my hair. I said yes. Again, we signed for a credit card, no receipt until we requested one. And there was an extra charge of $5 - because I had requested a particular stylist! There are no signs in any of the shops detailing this charge, and we were told that such signs were not allowed. I have written to Mr. Seth Gittlitz, the CEO of Haircuttery Corp. Office HQ and recommended the addition charge be dropped, or at least publicized. I've never received an answer. Resolution Sought Publicize the additional charge on the website and in the shops.
