Their service has gotten worse - They'll ruin your car AND charge you to diagnose & fix what they broke. I took my car in for a recall. They serviced the emissions and 3 days later for the FIRST TIME, it failed a smog test! I was told the Catalytic Converter wasn't properly calibrated, and wasn't "recording emissions". I was given two choices: (a) Drive around & it 'should' correct. (b) Take it back to get readjusted. I took it back & they said they could "force reset" the CC, to make it pass. But it would cost $400+! AND they would charge $175 to diagnose! I requested it for free, they said NO. I drove it over 180 miles and it still failed! Since then, I couldn't renew my registration, & got a traffic ticket! Today, the tech I spoke to said he has to charge me unless overridden by his manager. So I asked his Middle Eastern manager who said no, that it had been too long! His excuse was "techs have to be paid". I threw the paper invoice on his desk & said "Fine! Do it then!" He instantly refused to do it because of the paper throw. I said, "Did the paper hurt you?" and he said, "Yes, it hurt my feelings!". He looked like he wanted to fight me. But I told him I was done with him & wanted to speak to the manager. He lied saying, "I'm the manager". I said "No you're not. I want YOUR manager". So he walked into his manager's office, shut the door, & returned with "He doesn't want to speak to you". I left and wrote this review. Stay far away from scammy Resolution Sought (1) Fix my emmisisons problem that caused my car to fail the smog check (2) If I have to fix it elsewhere, give me a full refund.

Previous dealer Buena Park Nissan buy/sell 5/3/21. Recall R1720 was performed on 9/28/20 - Engine Control Module was reprogrammed per Nissan. This customer has not paid anything for my additional inspection as on now. Customer blames the dealer for something that Nissan issued for his vehicle, under previous ownership.

Customer Rebuttal

Typical denial as expected, sprinkled with a little bit of truth and a few lies. I had since returned 3 times to get it fixed including 7 DAYS after the "service" on 9/28/20. Guess what I was told: I have to PAY to have them diagnose the issue that they caused with their "recall service". I refused. I went back 2 more times when the car get failing to register an emissions test (they told me to keep driving). And each time they told me they want me to pay for diagnostics. So yes, I actually went back SEVERAL times to have them fix it when driving it for 80 miles on the freeway did not fix it like they claimed it would. The last visit was detailed in my original post.

Company Final Response

A recall performed in 9/28/2020 will not cause the vehicle to not pass smog at this point. If there is a problem with passing smog, customer will need to bring the current smog check report and pay for diagnosis. Whatever is found during the diagnosis will be the customers responsibility, as the vehicle is out of warranty. If the customer feels the recall is still at fault, he will need to contact the manufacturer Nissan North America at 800-647-7261.
