This is the second year of having my taxes prepared by them. First year was fine this year however. When I first went in they told me I I was getting over $4,000 back. Then they called me two days later to tell me that my tax return had been rejected by the IRS and that my ex had claimed one of my children on his tax return and I said okay so I wouldn't be getting the $4,000 back and I'm like okay well since I paid you $140 to do my taxes which it's normally $40 because I don't I'm disabled but because I was they told me because I was getting so much back in federal this year that they were charging me an extra $100 so that made it $140 I paid $140 even before I left just like I had done the previous year otherwise they don't give you your tax papers. Then when she called me two days later and told me that I wouldn't be getting that back because my ex claimed one of my children that I would only be getting $1,200 back and I said well shouldn't I get my hundred dollars back then since I'm not getting as much and she had told me no because they had already filed the forms. So I said okay then I guess just go ahead and file for the 1200 so that's what they did and sent me my tax papers well I hadn't received my tax return yet so I got online and I looked and it said that form 8812 was filed incorrectly I would be getting $0 so I called and told them they told me to file myself and that they would only pay me $60 of the $140 paid. I have voicemail from them and witnesses Resolution Sought Pay me all my money back admit they messed up my return and lied or a reason why they lied and apologize.

Company Response

Company states: Ms. Wehmeyer came into the office on 2/1/22 to file her Federal Return and to claim her Missouri Rental Credit. Our standard charge for Single with Children is $160. We only charged her for the Missouri Rental Credit of $40 as a courtesy and goodwill. She paid $40 by cash. Client said that she didn't receive an of the $1400 stimulus for her and her two children and that she only received $1800 of the Child Tax Credit. IF she was telling the truth, she would have received $4000. Ms. Wehmeyer's tax return was rejected, stating that someone already claimed one of the two children. She said her ex-husband did and to take that child off. She also said that she looked at her deposits that she did receive stimulus payments. We updated the information in the return. Client them came back and said that she needs to file to get the rest of her Child Tax Credit for her other child. We only charged her another $60) on top of the $40 that she paid). We have 3 employees in the office that witnessed this. She paid the remaining $60 by cash. We filed the tax return with the child, and the IRS stated that she had already been paid the Child Tax Credit. We left a message for her on 3/10/22 @ 8:45 am stating that we need the IRS Form 6419 stating how much money she received for the Child Tax Credit. She never brought the IRS form in. On April 6, 2022, Ms. Wehmeyer called and said that she should have received that money. I told her that we would not be able to help her unless she was able to provide the correct IRS documentation. She got verbal on the phone with Ms. Tucker and said that we were trying to mess up her taxes. Ms. Tucker calmly explained to her the IRS rules and that she had to provide the correct documentation. Ms. Tucker states that it looks as that all she is eligible for was the MO Rental Credit, because she has already received all the Child Tax Credit and Stimulus Money that the IRS issued on her behalf. Ms. Tucker offered Ms. Wehmeyer a refund of the $60, sice she WS NOT eligible for any additional IRS funds. Attached is a copy of the check for $60 that was handed to Ms. Wehmeyer. When she arrived at the office she was acting erratically, flailing arms, and yelling. We informed her that she will no longer be welcomed in our firm. We strive to help our clients, in accordance with the laws of the IRS Code. Ms. Wehmeyer refused to follow the IRS rulings and tried to find ways to manipulate the system. We will not tolerate that behavior. If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to contact our office.
